Project Goal

The goal was to design an intuitive platform that simplifies everyday pet care tasks while also fostering a stronger connection between pet owners and their pets. By offering a personable shopping experience along with streamlined services and subscriptions, the app aimed to make pet care more seamless and enjoyable for both owners and their furry companions.

Research

Competitive Analysis - Chewy & PetSmart

Through the research, I identified opportunities to enhance both Chewy’s and PetSmart’s apps by focusing on improving personalization and convenience, while also incorporating elements that are already working well to further optimize the user experience.

Ideation

The goal is to create a convenient, personalized platform for pet owners like Ashley and Joseph, helping them manage their pets' needs from shopping to scheduling services. By addressing issues like time management and product discovery, the app can better support busy pet owners.

A journey map was created to understand users experience as a pet owner, helping identify key touch-points and pain points. This insight guided the design process to ensure the app effectively addresses user needs and enhances overall user experience.

Several user flows were developed to visualize the steps users take throughout their experience. These flows helped identify areas where the app can streamline processes and enhance the overall user journey.

Sketches and wireframes were developed to outline the app's structure and key user interactions.

Following that, a style kit was created to capture a cohesive visual language, ensuring consistency across the design.

A purple color palette was developed to set the brand apart while maintaining a warm and inviting feel. Visual elements were thoughtfully incorporated to enhance the pet-friendly experience and create a more engaging design.

Final Concept

The onboarding process is welcoming and intuitive, helping users get familiar with the platform quickly and feel comfortable from the very first tap

In the pet profile section, you can track orders, earn points, reorder favourites, revisit past purchases, and add more pet pals. You can also manage subscriptions with ease, keeping pet care simple and convenient.

The shopping experience is seamless and straightforward, with a checkout process that includes a few confirmation steps to ensure users are satisfied with their order before finalizing their purchase.

Booking grooming services is just as seamless, with a simple and personalized process that ensures every appointment is tailored to your pet’s needs.

Reflection

I learned that a seamless and intuitive user experience is essential for engagement. Personalization enhances the platform’s relevance, while a well-designed onboarding process is crucial for making a strong first impression. It not only helps users navigate the platform with ease but also introduces them to the brand right from the start, setting the tone for a positive, long-term relationship.
